Aerospace Museum of California Opens

Stephen Delikat, working with the newly opened Aerospace Museum of California in Sacramento, notified us that 12,000 visitors attended the free museum day on February 3rd, the date of their Grand Opening Event. Our DVD “Coast Guard: Helicopters to the Rescue” is on display in the exhibit and on sale in the gift shop.

AMC Temp Exhibit
During the event, Air Station Sacramento Rescue Swimmers were standing by the exhibit to answer questions. One of the ASTs on hand was Petty Officer, Jim Peterson who is featured in the DVD. This picture above shows the temporary Coast Guard exhibit. The permanent exhibit is currently being developed. More information about the Coast Guard project including a look at the design for the permanent exhibit, can be found by clicking here.

Postage Stamp Project

One of our Coast Guard Combat Vets wrote us about a project he's working on to get the United States Post Office to issue a stamp honoring the Coast Guard. Sounds like a great idea! Other than profiling our Coast Guard's combat efforts in WWII, there has never been a USPS Coast Guard stamp. Other countries around the world have done an outstanding job honoring their life-saving services with postal stamps.

Check out these stamps from other countries

If you're interested in helping out this effort, you can write a letter to your Congressman or other local politician similar to the one that Joe Kleinpeter suggested here. You can read more about the process for getting a stamp approved here:

http://www.usps.com/communications/organization/csac_print.htm

And include this along with a print-out of the stamps from other countries in your letter.
