A crewmember onboard the Coast Guard Cutter Decisive looks out onto the early morning waters about 20 miles south of Pensacola, Fla., in search of two missing boaters. The crew was woken just before 2 a.m. after the Coast Guard received a report of two males in the water, possibly wearing lifejackets, and a boat debri field. The Decisive, homeported in Pascaguola, Miss., has been operating as the main search and rescue platform while response crews work to secure the BP oil wellhead.

A small boat from U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Hollyhock medically evacuates a man from a sailing vessel during the Chicago to Mackinac race. After the man was transported from the sailing vessel to Hollyhock, an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Traverse City airlifted the man to a hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Lt. Benjamin Krebs salutes Lt. j.g. Molly Godden, during a change-of-command ceremony for Coast Guard Cutter Stingray. Krebs was relieved of command of the Stingray by Godden. The Coast Guard Cutter Stingray is an 87-foot coastal patrol boat based in Mobile and is responsible for patrolling the northern Gulf of Mexico.

The U.S. Coast Guard Cutters Morgenthau, Sherman and Boutwell are moored to the pier at Coast Guard Island. The three, 378-foot cutters have collectively served for 127 years and are homeported in Alameda.

The fishing vessel Josie floats along side the fishing vessel Cape Cross providing a stable work platform for responders while they prepare the vessel for lightering. The fishing vessel lies on its side after crews were unable to refloat the vessel that ran aground in Main Bay in Prince William Sound.

A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka MH-60T Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew medevacs a 55-year-old male reportedly suffering from chest pains aboard the 905-foot U.S. flagged tanker Alaskan Explorer 200 miles south of Sitka. The Coast Guard medevaced Winfred Opare after a Coast Guard duty flight surgeon recommended he be medevaced due to his condition.

A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crewman along with a crewmember of the cruise ship Statendam rush a 78-year old woman to Providence Valdez Medical Center after medevacing her for reportedly suffering symptoms of a stroke. The cruise ship Statendam was on its way to Icy Bay transiting outbound of Prince William Sound when the Coast Guard received the initial call via satellite phone.
