PORTSMOUTH, Va. - The crew aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Shearwater, an 87-foot patrol boat homeported in Little Creek, Va., leads the Parade of Ships during Operation Sail 2012 in Norfolk, Va. OpSail 2012 Virginia is also commemorating the bicentennial of the War of 1812 in hopes to inspire patriotism and foster interest in American maritime history and heritage.

NEW YORK – A Coast Guard boat crew from Station New York enforces a safety zone around a barge carrying the retired Space Shuttle Enterprise, while it transits through New York Harbor to the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. The Coast Guard worked closely with its port partners to ensure the Enterprise transited safely throughout the port to its new home at the museum.

PAGO PAGO, American Samoa -- An approximately 80-foot long line fishing vessel moored at the Department of Marine Resources dock lies on its side in Pago Pago Harbor, American Samoa after sinking. Coast Guardsmen with Marine Safety Detachment American Samoa had the vessel surrounded by boom in effort to reduce the pollution threat to the environment.

EASTERN PACIFIC OCEAN - Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment and Navy crewmembers transport seized cocaine to the USS Nicholas. The LEDET's primary mission is to deploy aboard U.S. and allied naval vessels to conduct and support maritime law enforcement, drug and migrant interdiction and security operations.

ATLANTIC OCEAN – Coast Guard crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet in North Carolina aboard a 47-foot Motor Life Boat prepare to tow the 49-foot sailing vessel Devil Slander after flooding damaged the sailing vessel’s electrical system, which kept the engine from starting and prevented the use of the electronic auto-furl sails. Coast Guardsmen from Coast Guard Sector North Carolina, the Coast Guard Cutter Block Island, Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet, Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet, and the Coast Guard Cutter Staten Island all aided in the rescue of the two sailors aboard the Devil Slander.

HOUSTON - Coast Guard and other law enforcement agencies escort a NASA training shuttle to the Johnson Space Center dock in League City. Crewmembers from multiple Coast Guard units and the Coast Guard Auxiliary helped guide the shuttle safely through the tight ship channel and under the Kemah bridge, as it works its way to Space Center Houston.
