ENGLEWOOD, Fla. — The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Diamondback, an 87-foot Marine Protector Class Coastal Patrol Boat homeported in Miami Beach, rescues two Englewood, Fla. residents 13-miles off Stump Pass. As the Diamondback was en route to dry-dock, watchstanders aboard the cutter spotted the fishermen waving a red cloth in distress about 1800-yards away. The Diamondback crew arrived on scene, plucked the fishermen from their vessel, and transferred them to safety.

STRAITS OF MACKINAC - The motor vessel Manistee, in ballast with no cargo, rides high in the waters of the Straits of Mackinac after being freed from ice by the crew of Coast Guard Cutter Biscayne Bay. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - A Coast Guard C-130 Hercules and two MH-60 Jayhawk helicopters from Air Station Clearwater, Fla., conduct a fly-over for the 32nd anniversary of the Coast Guard Cutter Blackthorn memorial in St. Petersburg. The Blackthorn sank after colliding with the tanker Capricorn near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, in St. Petersburg, Jan. 28, 1980.
